As tropical storm Ian continues to dissipate and track away from Florida, we are relieved that Miami avoided any significant impact. The Fontainebleau hotel and Miami International Airport remain open and unaffected, and we are excited to welcome you to USIPA’s 2022 conference this weekend.
However, at the same time, we are deeply saddened by this historically powerful storm’s devastation on southwestern Florida. Many will feel its effects for months and perhaps years to come.
While specific weather events are difficult to attribute directly to climate change, we know its impacts such as warming seas make conditions more favorable for extreme weather. Hurricane Ian is a stark reminder that underscores the importance of our industry in fighting climate change, and we look forward to continuing our work together in Miami with renewed urgency and purpose.
